I live and work in Newport, South Wales the host of the Ryder Cup for 2010 and the first city you hit when you cross the Severn Bridge on your way to Cardiff, the beautiful capital of Wales.
I have been passionate about photography since I picked up a camera over 30 years ago. I have photographed everybody from the Queen and the Pope to the dog next door and I must say I have enjoyed every job I have ever had because every time you pick up a camera it is a new challenge.
Many years ago I fell in love with wedding photography. I believe that being chosen to capture the essence of a couple’s special wedding day is true honour. It is like doing a portrait sitting but at 100 miles an hour, with no control over your environment.
I love people, so the greatest thing about the profession is the people you meet along the way. You are allowed to enter so many worlds, that you would never have access to without a camera and that is truly exciting. There is also a great camaraderie between professional photographer, over the years you build up a great net work of friends in the profession who you share ideas with and you all help each other in times of need.
One of my greatest achievements was winning my Kodak Gold Awards and entering the wonderful gold circle. I also love to give something back to the profession by teaching other photographers. I benefited from some amazing advice and heard some inspirational speakers throughout my career and hope to give the people entering the profession today the benefit of some of my experience. I also enjoy listening to new people and learning new skills: you can never stay still in this profession.
